Rubber Bands Around Music Rolls
By Lee Rothrock

As a faithful rubber band user, here are my observations. Rolls that
are stored over time without rubber bands sometimes 'expand' into the
space in their boxes and develop corners -- not good!

Two simple strategies to avoid damaging rolls:

(1) When removing the rubber band, remove it in the direction in which
it _does not_ go over the end tab. Put it on without getting so far as
the tab. This sounds so simple, but I snapped off an end tab carelessly
(once!) after receiving these same instructions.

(2) I keep a 1/4-pound box of rubber bands on the end of the keyboard and
change them after each play. There's a 3-pound coffee can on the floor
nearby for the used ones. You have to use them up that fast anyway to
keep them from getting old.
