Rubber Bands Around Music Rolls
By Dave Haibach

If one does not mind spending a buck or two, I have found that
elastic hair bands, normally purchased for the younger set's hair,
work extremely well. They come in packs of 30-50 and if you look
around, you can find them in just black, brown, or bright colors
to taste.

I am talking about the smallest size bands here with no metallic
joiners. You have to look, but they are not more expensive than
the kind with metallic joiners.

The width of the hair band distributes the tension rather well and
therefore does not dent the paper much, the colored bands are not
as hard to keep track of when not on the roll, and the band does not
seem to deteriorate over time. The jumbo rolls, can use the medium
size bands quite nicely. I have had some on rolls for years with no
deterioration. If they ever do break the rubber does not adhere to
the roll.

Velcro is nice, but the thickness of some of that stuff and the cost,
makes it harder to use, in my opinion...
