Gluing the Piano Roll Spool Flange
By Steve Marx

Hi Gang, Since we are on the topic of rubber bands on rolls, a thought
came to my mind. Why isn't the end of the spool glued in? The most
common answer I got is to reroll the paper on. People remove the
[left] spool end of the roll and pack it.

A common practice amongst player men is to loosen or remove the brake,
which I feel is wrong. If you adjust the bottom brake correctly, you
don't need to pull off the end of the roll and pack it.

I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Thanks,
