Brian,  if this "sounds weird" then most of us here are in trouble!
I have the same feelings for my Model A Ford that I have now owned
longer than the original owner did.  (Yes, I'm the second owner and
I have known the car _all_ my life; I used the front fenders for a
slide when I was about four years old.  Anyone trying that now would
feel my wrath! :)  Until I can no longer drive it, it's not for sale
at any price!  That's also true of my first model train set.
