Restored Band Organ at Silver Beach Amusement Park
By Mikey Mills

I went to Silver Beach Amusement Park in Michigan twice this year.
The North Tonawanda (style 187 or 188) is quite astounding. The brass
clarinets sounded like real ones. It was a bit out of tune and they
stopped the organ after each ride (a big no-no for organs) but it was
still outstanding. They also got a new Stinson; I didn't get the
chance to hear it, though.

From what I know, the North Tonawanda organ is the one mostly played,
as the operator told me that the North Tonawanda is much easier to
operate. An organ similar to this one is at Balboa Park in San Diego,
California; in fact, it still plays the endless rolls.

So the organ at Silver Beach does sound very good and I'm very glad
it's able to be heard by the general public.
