[ In a catalog of music rolls for the Hupfeld Phonoliszt-Violana,
 [ Matthew noticed a song by Willy Rosen named "Eine schöne, weisse
 [ Chrysantheme - Lied und Yale".  He thought it could be a misprint
 [ so he investigated using Google -- and found more like it!

On YouTube there is a clip of Willy Rosen's "Eine schöne, weisse
Chrysantheme."  It is a very pleasant performance, and worth your

On both the sheet music and the record label shown in the clip at the
beginning, the foxtrot is characterized as a "Lied und Yale."  Doing
a Google search on "Lied und Yale" brings up several other German tunes
also called a "Lied und Yale."

The term mystifies me.  I know what a Lied is, but a Yale?  Can any
German MMDers throw some light on this?
