Don Teach wrote, "I would never recommend anything but hot hide glue
to glue pneumatics on to the deck boards."  I would strongly agree.
The use of any adhesive other than hide glue for adhering pneumatics
to deck boards is a bad idea.

In my opinion, PVC-E is great for any material to wood (brass tubing,
metal valve plates, pneumatic cloth, etc.) but not good for any
wood-to-wood joint.  I used PVC-E for the small pneumatics in the
first stack I rebuilt years ago and it worked great.  However, I would
not use it for large pneumatics (pumps, reservoirs, etc.).

The idea behind using hide glue on deck boards (and other wood-to-wood
joints) is that the part is easier removed for repair or rebuilding.
Any other glue makes it next to impossible to separate the part without
breaking it.

I have seen pneumatics attached with "Gorilla Glue" -- what a disaster!
There is no use for "Gorilla Glue" in any part of a player piano, in my
opinion.
