Bellows for Whistler
By Matthew Caulfield

Deb Amole seeks a new bellows for the whistler that her late
grandfather gave her. Karl Griesbaum was famous for the whistlers
and singing bird boxes that he once made. You will find many examples
of his work for sale on the Internet by Googling "Griesbaum." At last
report his work was being carried on, using many of his original tools,
by Jörg Wendel and his family in Ruedesheim, Germany.

Finding a new bellows is not the way to go. The bellows can be rebuilt
if you use the proper very thin leather or zephyr skin. One person in
the U.S. who makes a specialty of repairing these mechanisms is Moe
Goldy, Port St. Lucie, Florida, email mgoldy@earthlink.net.geentroep
[delete ".geentroep" to reply]. Another is Philip Brady, Evansville,
Indiana, email brassgears@aol.com.geentroep.
