I am always amazed at the wisdom on MMD!  I have used epoxy as
a "last resort" technique, but which always seemed to hold up
strongly.  The best epoxy from Player Piano Co. was incredibly
strong.  For traditional joining, hot hide glue is always the best.

The method of using wood splinters and shavings is very interesting.
As a piano rebuilder, you know that rebuilding a soundboard involves
filling any cracks with wooden shims.  As a furniture builder,
I always prefer hot hide glue.  Maybe I am old-fashioned, but
I believe hot hide glue is still the best.
