Introduction & Aeolian Push-up Pianola
By Joseph LaQuiere

Hello readers and subscribers: I made the same introduction at the
Pianola forum and I know many of the same readers belong here but I
have recently subscribed to MMD and have benefited greatly from all
of the archived content and just want to make a short introduction here
and share some videos and photos.

I have become a recent enthusiast specifically for push-up Pianolas.
I was not even aware of the existence of these instruments until about
eight months ago when I chanced upon a video of Julian Dyer on YouTube.
I had been doing some research on modern player mechanisms because I
had been asked by a friend to find a used grand piano with an electric
diskette-based player for a seniors center.

I enjoy great music and have made various musical interests serious
hobbies and endeavors of mine for many years. I never had any personal
experience, however, with roll players nor understood the amount of
user input possible. When I happened upon Julian's video I realized
that my understanding of the pneumatic players was very limited and
that the user could actually shape and create the music.

Further intriguing was the idea that there was a machine that I could
push up to any piano, from the very finest on down and allow me to be
the conductor of my own instrument. I have since that time acquired
three 65-note instruments and have enjoyed playing immensely.

For those interested, I have created a YouTube channel for my videos:
http://www.youtube.com/user/awardaudio I also have picture galleries
of my instruments here: http://www.awardaudio.com/Pianolas.html

Thank you and enjoy!
