Band Organ at Palisades Amusement Park
By Matthew Caulfield

I'm making inquiries on behalf of a New Jersey man about the band
organ that used to play on the PTC #84 carousel that was at New
Jersey's Palisades Amusement Park until it closed at the end of the
1971 season. The carousel went to Canada's Wonderland, a Cedar Fair
park in Vaughan, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto. Of course a corporate
park like that isn't going to bother with a real band organ, and they
are using canned music.

The inquirer, Chuck Parodi <EMT5748@aol.com.geentroep> [delete
".geentroep" to reply] wants to know what kind of organ it was and
the model, where the organ is now, the names of some of the tunes it
played, and whether any recordings of the organ exist. My (wild) guess
is that it was a Wurlitzer 153 or 157. If that is the case, I could
send Chuck some recordings of the tunes it most likely would have
played.

Can any MMDer fill in the blanks for Chuck?

[ Several songs have been composed about the park and practically
[ all would sound good played by a carousel organ! No less than
[ three songs were published between 1909 and 1916. Visit
