Repairing Mira 18-1/2" Double-Comb Musical Box
By Mike Cino

For those familiar with the Mira 18-1/2" double comb console, there are
slides that move over each comb connected by a linkage. I am assuming
they dampen the combs. But from some photos I have seen, my unit is
missing what ever material (felt, rubber, etc.) that is under the metal.
As it is, these do not touch the combs right now, with the missing
material and perform no function. Does anyone have a source or a
specification of the material, shape and size?

On a second note, the player seems to jam occasionally with a disc on.
It can be freed up by giving the disc a push and getting a 'pop' from
the sprocket/disc hole area. It works freely without a disc and even
trying to stop the mechanism by hand pressure does not cause a problem.

I am open to opinions as could this be the discs hole wear, the discs
flexing improperly, or a motor issue? I have inspected the gearing and
see no apparent damage or rough movement.

Appreciate it, and thank you in advance.
