Repairing Thorens AD30 Disc Musical Box Movement
By Josh Phillips

I just got my first music box, a Thorens AD30, with a good number
of discs. Like any old piece, it has a few things wrong with it
that I'll try to tackle one at a time.

First off, when playing, the movement has a tendency to get stuck.
If the disc is removed, the movement will continue unwinding.
However, if I try to manually unwind the box, it won't stick.
To fix this, I tried loosening the arm, which did not solve the
problem.

Also, switching the box to 'Stop' does not stop the movement, but
I'm not sure if the problem is related.

Can anyone point me toward what might be wrong with my musical box,
and how I might go about fixing it?

Thanks for the help.
