Seek Steel Pin Ends for 65-note Roll Spools
By Philip Jamison

Does anyone sell the steel pin ends for 65-note rolls? I want to make
some orchestrion roll flanges and cores, and some ready-made pins would
save time. These rolls had wood flanges, which I will try to copy on my
lathe. Any suggestions on a source for the cores? It would be similar
to 65-note roll cores. I assume they originally used a cardboard tube.

[ The earliest Wurlitzer APP coin piano music rolls were wound on
[ spools that were identical to 65-note ("Aeolian") piano roll spools
[ except narrower, and the core was one-piece solid wood. Overall,
[ I consider it an excellent mechanical system design and superior to
[ the 88-note system with its wobbly flanges. Unfortunately, pin-end
[ wood spools are significantly more expensive to fabricate.
