Multiple Versions of QRS Piano Rolls
By Claud Cavnar

I have three copies of "Clarinet Polka", all labeled QRS 7452, but
all are played differently. One has J. L. Cook listed on the box label
as the player, another has Harold Scott and one doesn't have any box
info. The printed label on the roll itself all show Harold Scott but
only one has his printed signature, the other two have no printed
signature.

Is there any way to know which info is correct? I'm tempted to print
up replacement labels for each end of the box and list both players.

[ QRS usually didn't save the production "master" rolls of pop tunes
[ in anticipation of future orders because too much valuable space
[ would be consumed, so when dealers ordered more rolls the staff
[ arranger would simply create a new roll. The catalog number was
[ never changed. "Harold Scott" was a pseudonym frequently used by
 [ J. Lawrence Cook. -- Robbie
