I have a customer with a restored Mason & Hamlin Ampico B.  The work
appears to be professional.  On two separate occasions the ends of
two wooden connectors have split out.  There was a slight knock, but
I find it hard to believe that would be a factor in breaking the
connectors.  How crucial is the regulation on the spring adjustments
on the connectors?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
