"Primola" by C. Rich. Ritter of Halle, Germany
By Hendrik Strengers

In 1828 the piano-factory of C. Rich. Ritter was founded in Halle,
Germany. The Welt-Adressbuch (by Paul de Wit, 1925) mentions the
managers: Alfred and Willi Ritter and Otto Naumann. The addresses are
Königstrasse 6 and Dessauerstrasse 53. It is then a piano-factory.

The other business is Rich. Ritter & Co., with the managers Alfred
and Willi Ritter, Otto Naumann and Ernst Rich. Ritter. The address
is Leipzigerstrasse 73 in Wannsee [Berlin]. They deal in pianos,
harmoniums, musical instruments and gramophones. This address was
founded in 1911.

There was a branch-office in Merseburg: Obere Burgstrasse 11. The
manager here was Rud. Meckert. They dealt in pianos and harmoniums.
Year of founding is 1828, possibly simultaneously with the
piano-factory in Halle.

A special product is the player-piano with the brand name "Primola"
(never heard before!). Does anybody know the history, the name of
the founder and the dates of life and death of the managers? When
came an end to this business?

Musically,
Hendrik Strengers
