North West Player Piano Association Anniversary
By Bob Kissick

NWPPA celebrates 40 years with a public concert May 12th!

Readers might be interested to know that the North West Player Piano
Association is celebrating 40 years since its founding in Manchester in
1972. Various events for members include a celebratory dinner and a
visit to the Aeolian/Taylor 23-bell roll-playing carillon at Manchester
Town Hall. (We visited the Taylor's Bell Foundry last year -- see
"Taylor-Aeolian" in the MMD Archive.)

We are also hosting a _public_ concert on Saturday, 12 May, at 3 p.m.,
at the Unitarian Chapel Hall, Cross Street, Manchester. Concert
pianolist Michael Broadway will be using his 88-note push-up Pianola
on the chapel's Yamaha concert grand piano to perform a varied
programme of music ranging from Chopin and Liszt to Billy Mayerl
and Gershwin. Also included will be some music composed specially
for the Pianola. It promises to be a most enjoyable and enlightening
afternoon.

Full details, including the programme of music to be played, and
directions to the venue, are to be found on the Association's web site:
http://www.pianola.org.uk/

We believe that by inviting the public to attend this concert for a
reasonable charge we are promoting the future of mechanical music in
our area.

Kind regards to all from the UK,

Bob Kissick - North West Player Piano Association
