Seek Help Dating G. Baker-Troll Musical Box
By Don Caine

I'm seeking assistance in arriving at a more precise dating of a
G. Baker-Troll 18" twin spring, single cylinder Sublime Harmony with
drum, 6 bells, castanetts (sic) and zyther attachment and large tune
indicator with Roman numerals, 10 tunes, serial no. 13185 (also noted
on tune card is 17" 24") high quality cabinet/casket burl walnut
veneer, top and front inlaid with a fairly large scalloped edged
medallion of ebony, mother of pearl, brass, rose wood, and something
that looks like a white and green swirled marble material. Inside of
top is inlaid with a beautiful clear piece of birds eye maple covering
almost all of the bottom side of the lid.

Tune names and spellings are as shown on original tune card (as best
as I can decipher them), but are questionable. Youngest tune seems
to be "The Black Hussar", march, Millocker (1886), tune card
apparently created for the English / American market.

 1. Forest legends - Waltz - Straufs (sic) (Tales From the Vienna Woods?)
 2. Chimes of Normandy - Polka - Planquette (1876)
 3. The Mikado - Young Man Dispair - Sullivan (1885)
 4. Manola - Seigneur je sois (I am Lord) - Offenbach
 5. Charming - Gavotte - Alberti ? ? ?
 6. Martha - Market Chorus - Flotow (The Market at Richmond - 1844)
 7. Gazza Ladre (sic) - The Thieving Magpie - Rossini (1817)
 8. Il Travatore - Tivra contente - Verdi (1853)
 9. Lohengrin - Bridal Chorus - Wagner (1848)
10. Black Hussar - March - Millocker (1886)

Best I can figure is circa 1887-1906 (youngest tune 1886 and 1906
when the G. Baker - Troll & Co. name was no longer being used).
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
