Restoration of Orange City's Dutch Street Organ
By Lynn Dobson

My company has just completed the restoration of a band organ owned
by the Dutch community of Orange City, Iowa. It was built in Paris
in 1909 by Marenghi and rebuilt in the 1950s into a street organ by
Jacques Minning of Rotterdam. The organ was unplayable when it came
to our shop in November 2011.

Last week it played in the Lake City, Iowa, town square the evening
before it went back to Orange City for use in their annual Tulip
Festival. Videos can be accessed at the Dobson Pipe Organ Builders
web site under "Latest" news. It was windy that night and it was
being pumped by hand so the tuning is up and down depending on how
tired the pumpers were getting, and how hard the wind was blowing.

Hope you enjoy!
