Silent Suction Box for Player Piano
By Robert Leber

Twenty seven or so years ago when I was out at Jim Deroyn's house
in Castro Valley, California, in his barn he showed me a commercially
made (I assumed) accordion player with a relatively tall vacuum cleaner
type motor vacuum box that was a little more than twice the height of
regular suction boxes. It was such a marvel to him how truly silent
it was he and really wanted me to see it, too. The whole accordion
player chassis was not more than two feet wide and two feet deep and
five and a half feet tall.

It seems to me someone out there has the experience to come up with the
baffling and silencing sound filters to make an attractive stand-beside
vacuum supply cabinet. We have seen several stand-alone steamboat
pump-in-a-cabinet units on eBay so we know it is useful.
