Ampico "A" Erratic Expression Problem
By Robert Maniaci

Dear MMDers, as a new subscriber (6 months) I want to thank you for
your comments and responses. I have learned so much and enjoyed the
humor. Now I need help.

I have recently noticed that my 1928 Ampico A grand piano has become
unstable when playing with Ampico switched "On". The symptoms are

1. At start up, both the treble and bass are at 6 inches of water
vacuum.

2. At slow crescendo, bass rises smoothly to 21 inches.

3. On decrescendo, the bass smoothly returns to 6 inches water vacuum.

4. On treble crescendo, it rises smoothly to 9 inches then jumps to
16 inches and continues to rise.

5. On decrescendo, the treble smoothly drops to 11 inches and holds.
It will not return to 6 inches.

6. When I turn off the piano or Ampico, the treble resets to 6 inches.

I find that by opening 7T on the expression unit, the jump up on
crescendo is eliminated. Also, it returns to 6 inches consistently.

I welcome any and all suggestions because I am stumped. Thank you in
advance and best regards to all,

Bob Maniaci
