I was saddened by Denis' passing.  I had a chance to host Denis at
my home in Austin, Texas, for a week during his world tour after
attending the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth sometime during the 1980s.
My remembrance of him is that of a charming man, ever gracious and
more than willing to share his encyclopedic knowledge of our hobby.

As someone earlier noted, he was the seminal figure of reproducing
pianos in the Southern hemisphere.  I had the good fortune to visit
Ampico Towers in 2010, see all the great instruments and his phenomenal
roll collection.  I photographed every box end and counted something
in excess of 7500 rolls, of all flavors.  Sadly, I did not have
a chance to visit him in his assisted living facility at the time,
a missed opportunity I regret.

He was generous with his knowledge, kind to all who showed any
interest in our passion and a mentor to many.  He will be sorely
missed and I will continue to remember him fondly.
