Plastic Key Bushings for Player Pianos
By Eliyahu Shahar

OK, I need to say that this is just wrong. Bushings should fit in the
hole that they are going into. If you have to force them, the force
you use to press them in will constrict the inside hole. So they would
naturally bind!

So if you want to use plastic bushings (and why not use felt bushings
like originally used?), either get a set that fit or, once you push
them in, you can bore them out with a broach to the correct size, as
you would a clock bushing.

Felt bushings and graphite: best results. Plastic bushings: broach to
correct size and use graphite.
