Most electric motors for player pianos use felt around the shaft and
bushings, because it will hold onto the oil and more steadily continue
to lubricate over a longer period of time than if they didn't use it.
Over time the felt can become more dense and the older oil can
solidify, so new oil added does not easily, if at all, get through.  I
have had good results by stabbing the felt with my flange-bushing
reamer several times.  This will improve the felt's ability to do its
job.  Also, I have had good results with 3-in-One motor oil (the blue
bottle not the red one).
