Keyboard Touch Weight of Duo-Art Grand Piano
By Bruce Grimes

I need to add a little to my comments in the 130118 MMD about the work
David Snyder did on my Steinway D action. Anyone wanting to view the
process of the rebuilding may access it at:
    http://snyderspianoservice.com

I built the long-play spool box prior to lengthening the piano so that
we could build the piano to the proper length around the spool box.

David Snyder wrote me this:

"I used the photos/drawings that Mel sent me as a guide to key
length and overall dimensions. I then developed a new balance
point to make the keys play more like a normal action. Hence, your
keyboard is not an exact duplicate of Mel Septon's piano. I then
designed the piano re-lengthening around the new keyboard that I
had made by a key maker, keeping in mind the dimensions that
Mel provided and the case design elements that you wanted. Your
piano isn't an exact copy of what originally existed. It is a
hybrid that sought to improve the aesthetics as well as the
    functionality of the piano."

This sets the record straight for the MMD.
