My E-mail Contacts List Was Hacked
By Duaine Hechler

First, I want to say that I used to be in the IT (computer world) for
24 years before having to switch careers to piano and related work.
Also, I have been keeping track of Microsoft & Windows shenanigans
since 1994 and after you read this you will be shocked:

As you know, 99% of the viruses and worms affect Microsoft Windows
operating systems. Well, Yahoo email servers _run_ on Windows systems.
Whereas, most of you _don't_ know that over 80% of the Internet systems
are running Linux operating systems, Microsoft's competition! As such,
Linux systems are _completely_ immune to Windows' viruses and worms,
etc. So, one reason why Gmail is safer is because their email servers
are running on Linux.

Good luck,

[ I have had two more reports from friends that their Yahoo accounts
[ have been hacked. I've always assumed that the issue was
[ captured passwords via a "phishing" page. A compromised Windows
[ server might explain why these hacked-account events seem to come
[ in waves. A hacked server might give up ALL of the address books
[ on them in one shot. I've also been told that the outgoing mail
[ attributed to these hacked accounts didn't end up appearing in
[ the "sent mail" folder of the users. This further supports the
[ "server was hacked" theory. I remain a Linux fan. --Jody
