PVC-E Adhesive and Bellows Cloth
By Bill Maguire

I would never use PVC-E on cotton backed Bellows or pneumatic cloth
to wood. I would possibly use it where the bellows or pneumatic cloth
overlaps in the hinge area due to the fact that it is so _much_ more
flexible than hide glue.

It turns out that purplish Bilon cloth holds up considerably longer
than the natural rubber which was so highly touted. The best adhesive
to use for that Bilon cloth is PVC-E. PVC-E is reversible -- liquid
stripper and a razor blade will take it right off.

It is so cold here today in New York that I could not get my shop above
55 degrees. I glued a set of new plastic key tops with PVC-E adhesive
and three hours later I trimmed them on the belt sander and router/table,
and sanded and filed, etc., with no failures in the glue joint. PVC-E
adhesive has its place and I for one am glad it is available.
