Who Built the Wurlitzer Music Roll Perforators
By Dave Krall

Is there anyone out there who has knowledge of the history of the
Wurlitzer roll perforators? I'm interested in any information on who
built them. I think it is believed that Wurlitzer built them in their
own machine shop but I'd like to know if anyone has knowledge of this
or other information about their origins.

I have already conferred with Doug Hershberger of the Herschell Carousel
Museum in North Tonawanda, New York, and neither he nor the museum have
any definitive information on this.

The Morse report [submitted to Max Kortlander] suggested that the
Aeolian perforators might have been built under contract by Wurlitzer
for Aeolian, but other than the method of master utilization, they have
too many construction differences for that to be true.

Thanks,
Dave Krall
