Mislabeled Recut Orchestrion Rolls
By Dale F. Rowe

[ Ref. http://www.mmdigest.com/Gallery/Sounds/mjones_mislabeled.html

Dear Monica, Greetings from the Bronx. In regards to the Cook Roll
#G-1A, the tune is indeed "Louisiana Hayride". The tune was featured
in the 1953 movie musical "The Bandwagon", starring Fred Astaire, Cyd
Charisse, Nannette Fabray, Oscar Levant, and Jack Buchanan. Louisiana
Hayride is sung by Nannette Fabray and chorus. Other tunes include:
Dancing in the Dark, Triplets, and That's Entertainment, just to name
three.

The second music scene in the movie takes place in a penny arcade,
with Fred Astaire singing and dancing to "When There's a Shine on Your
Shoes". In the background you will see what is probably a Wurlitzer
Orchestrion (not played).

Hope this helps,
Sincerely,
D.F. Rowe
Bronx, New York
