Playing 88-note Rolls on Ampico B
By Mike Nichols

I wonder if any of my transatlantic friends can help? I have just
purchased a Knabe Ampico B (1930) from the US and although it plays
Ampico rolls very well, standard 88-note rolls play at far less volume
than on my Weber Duo-Art. I have tried the trick of starting the roll
at very slow speed but to no avail.

My question is, is it possible to fit a valve to allow air into the
expression pneumatic so that it plays at a higher volume? Something
like the "Duo-Art On/Off" switch on the Duo-Art?

These instruments are very rare in the UK and I am sure there must
be an easy fix.

As a secondary request, has anybody got a copy of "Home in Pasadena"
on Ampico that they would be prepared to sell me? I cannot find
anybody that is re-cutting this roll and it is one of our favorites.
My Duo-Art copy is just about ready to disintegrate.

Kind regards from this side of the Pond,
Mike Nicholls
