Wurlitzer 165 "Lincoln Park" Organ #3629
By Evan Mower

Aloha from Hawaii! I was thrilled to see Glenn Thomas' posting on
the Lincoln Park band organ. I was born in November 1948, and my
grandmother and grandfather lived in Los Angeles less than a mile
from Lincoln Park, in what was my father's childhood home. I'm
sure that my love of band organs was greatly influenced by pre-
and post-natal exposure to the sounds of this wonderful organ!

I couldn't count the hours I spent at the park as a child, always
thrilled with the music. I always wondered what happened to the
organ, as it wasn't mentioned in news articles that I read when the
carrousel was destroyed by arson. I'm looking forward to hearing it
again, especially one of my favorite selections, "Midnight Fire Alarm".
I used to have a 78 RPM recording of that, one of a few of the last
available for purchase there that have since been lost.

Keep us posted on the restoration!

Aloha pumehana,
