In response to the recent question about the spool frame rewind
problem, I have two remarks.  The Cooper roll frames with rubber belt
drives were built in several versions.  The motor mentioned in the
article, style 2Z811, is notoriously under-powered, and there is no
perfect replacement that I have found as yet.

I am currently using a Dayton 1MBG6 which gives a very fast rewind at
214 RPM.  The fan can be omitted for intermittent use.  Also, rewire
the spool frame so that there is no exposed line voltage and, if
possible, use a 3-wire power cord with the green wire connected to
the frame.

Secondly, the roll frame pictured in the Archives is a modified Cooper
roll frame.  The originals used only Wurlitzer style valve blocks and
the plates were black anodized or painted black.  I assembled most of
them.

Anyone having a Cooper roll frame may contact me about repairing or
modifying it to replace the belt drive with a chain drive, electronic
tempo control, and different rewind motor.
