Hi folks, I have taken on the challenge of compiling, for the COAA,
the upcoming on-line rollography of 8-to-the-inch band organ rolls.
In this endeavor, I have started to build the database with Ozzie
Wurdeman's production ledgers after he took over the North Tonawanda
Musical Instrument Works (NTMIW) and B.A.B. music roll stock and
perforating equipment.
If anyone out there has any information they would wish to share,
I am open to most everything at this point; just email me. I am also
looking for roll box label pictures of Wurdeman/BAB/NTMIW rolls of
any vintage.
On this occasion I am stuck with the issue of deciphering what went on
in some of the latter roll issues he and his family made, specifically
now: a 49-hole, 46-key Artisan issue, roll # 509 issued by Wurdeman
from at least one BAB stock master.
According to the ledger, there were actually three rolls issued with
that roll number: a 10-tune roll, an 11-tune (Special) roll, and a
5-tune (Endless, I believe) roll for the machines that used them.
The tune list for the standard 10-tune roll was

5. It's Only A Paper Moon
6. Little Sir Echo
7. Some Sunday Morning
8. When Chapel Bells Are Ringing
9. The Army Air Corps March
10. Bushel And A Peck
The 5-tune (endless) roll, also numbered #509 by Wurdeman, was taken
from another 46-key roll, #452, and is a Polka Roll:
1. Beer Barrel Polka
2. Too Fat Polka
3. Tic Tock Polka
4. Strip Polka
5. Pennsylvania Polka
If there is any one out there possessing an original Wurdeman roll
#509, I would appreciate any confirmation you could provide on any of
these. There were also re-cuts and transpositions made by Play-Rite in
later times for the Wurlitzer style organs, but mainly I am interested
in anything still in 46-key, 49-hole format.
