Piano Moving Horror Story
By Philip Jamison

Speaking as a piano mover, it is not necessary to crate a piano for
moving unless, perhaps, you are shipping overseas or by air or some
other method where the instrument will be handled with forklifts and
unqualified people. "Blanket" moves are quite safe if the movers know
what they're doing.

I'm guessing you didn't get your piano shipped by a specialist piano
mover, but a by general household mover. The bottom line is be sure
the shipment is insured, no matter who does the job!
