Bechstein Equipped With 88-note Aeolian Player
By Edward Baylis

I have recently serviced a Bechstein-Aeolian 88-note Pianola, of circa
1925-1930. This is the first Bechstein fitted with an Aeolian action
I have come across. It has an original type 88-note Aeolian piano/player
action manufactured in the UK, in the later smaller style case with
flat front folding type fallboard and brass inlaid name E. BECHSTEIN.

The cast iron frame has an Aeolian trademark to the left and E BECHSTEIN
on the right. The base of the cast frame has BP overlaid initials,
followed by Made in Britain. I would appreciate any information if
anyone has come across this unusual instrument.

Regards,
Edward Baylis, UK
