Upgrading Roy Norman "System Gavioli" Organ
By Mike Jardin

Hi All, I have one of the old Roy Norman "System Gavioli" 28-key
(keyless) street organs that plays the folding card stock "books."
The four music books I have are pretty worn out. I was wondering if
anyone could shed some light on what it would take to add e-valves and
a micro-controller into the mix so that I can breathe some life back
into this fun organ.

Are there off the shelf "e-valves" that I could purchase and install
between the tracker holes and the pneumatic valves so I could play
scanned Wurlitzer 125 rolls (sans Trumpets)? For the pressure and
vacuum I would power the existing pumps with an electric motor belted
to the big cast iron flywheel rather than continuing to crank.

Thanks!
Mike Jardin

[ You could play the Trumpet notes on a synthesizer module (if space
[ can be found for a loudspeaker)! See the overview article by Mike
