Regulating V-belt Tension
By Carl Zwanzig

Hello, On my North Tonawanda 173 band organ, how tight or loose
should the driving V-belt be? Tight enough so that it doesn't slip, of
course, but how tight is too tight for the wooden crankshaft bearings?

I'm working over the motor mount that came with the organ. The motor
sits on top of the organ, puts the pulleys 1/4-inch out-of-line, and
doesn't have a good way of setting the belt tension. I may want to
drastically rethink how this is done; suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Carl Zwanzig - z! in sunny and hot Alameda, California, USA
