Market For Mechanical Musical Instruments
By Ed Chaban

My apologies for mis-quoting Art Reblitz whom I admire incredibly.
The article I was referring to can be found here:

  http://www.player-care.com/values_2.html

He was speaking about new collectors and "common" instruments like
a typical 88-note upright player. These, unfortunately, are the
"entry point" for most of us the hobby. In my case, I rebuilt three
or four (some with the dreaded white glue) before I touched my first
reproducing action.

I agree with Art that there are indeed bargains to be found these days.
There are also totally irrational expectations for value out there.
I'm sure most MMD readers who scan eBay know what I'm talking about.
