Repairing a Cast Iron Piano Frame
By Mark Kinsler

This is just a thanks to Mr. Fowler for his fascinating description of
cast iron repair in industry. I don't have a player piano and couldn't
repair one if my life depended on it, but I've been lurking here for
ten years or so, mainly because of posts like this one.

I did have fun, though, at the Edsel Ford house and museum in Dearborn,
Michigan, not long ago. In one of the mansion's parlors a fine-looking
grand piano was playing on its own. I mentioned that this would be a
reproducer piano, and I thought the guide was going to genuflect to me
for knowing this. It was indeed a Duo-Art, likely restored by someone
who reads the MMD. It sounded splendid.
