Replacing Duo-Art Valve Seats
By John A. Tuttle

Hi All, For those who haven't been involved with the MMDigest for
very long, it might interest you to know that the subject of Duo-Art
cross valves has been ongoing since mid-1996 -- 18 years! During
that time, one point has remained consistently clear: cross valve
are _great_ when they're new. But, after the valve plate puts an
impression on the leather and the valve rotates, by natural causes
or due to the instrument being moved, the valves start leaking.

This and much more information about the cross valves (including
opposing viewpoints) is contained in two fine articles by Craig
Brougher, which are located at

  http://www.player-care.com/cross-valves-again2.html
  http://www.player-care.com/cb/cross-valves-again-objection.html

Also, there is a plethora of information in the MMDigest Archives.

Musically,
