Tubing Diagram for 1933 Steinway Duo-Art
By Mike Walter

Hi all, We've had the fortunate opportunity to house (maybe
temporarily) a 1933 Steinway Duo-Art grand piano with an electric
roll drive and tubing that goes around the ends of the piano action.
The piano had been rebuilt a number of years ago and was, for the
most part, functioning quite well. One of its quirks was that it
wouldn't go into replay.

One day I decided to contact some experts in the field and was given
some wonderful suggestions, but no clear-cut answer was available.
It was suggested that I contact Bill Koenigsburg from Boston, for
I was told that he also had one of these instruments. I did contact
Bill and yes he did have a fully operational instrument.

We checked some working numbers on the case and our instruments were
built in the factory at the same time (J2054 and J2056). We put our
heads together and came up with the correct tubing diagram for the
top portion of this late model Steinway Duo-Art.

If you wish to have an e-mailed "original" of this tubing diagram
that can be edited, please send me an e-mail request and I will return
your e-mail with two MS-Word documents attached. Jody generated PDF
files of the two documents. They are attached to this message.

Best wishes,
Mike Walter
