Restoring Disc Labels
By Jim Quashnock

I have had tremendous luck with a product called DecalPro. You print
whatever you want on a laser printer (it must be a laser print) using
a special paper. Whatever your print, be it in black or color, is then
picked up with a transfer sheet. This is sprayed with a light spray
adhesive and you've got a custom dry transfer, rub-on decal.

If you are going for a pure color, including gold or metalics, you can
purchase colored sheets. You run this, along with what you've printed,
through a laminator. This will fuse the color you selected to whatever
you printed, giving you the desired finish. This is perfect for gold
lettering. You then carry this through the transfer process to create
the decal. Take a look at:

There is a learning curve in using this product, but if you follow
their instructions you will be very happy with the results. I used
this product to restore the decal on my Wurlitzer 105; it came out
great. I have also made soundboard decals in color which also came out
great. I have top coated the transfer with varnish, shellac, lacquer,
and urethane with no problems. It does require a good, high
temperature hot-air gun and a laminator.

Good luck,
