Seek Kimball "Soloist" Pipe Organ Music Rolls
By Andrew Szymanski

I have recently come to own a 1914 Kimball pipe organ with
original roll player.  The organ came with about two dozen rolls;
however, many of the edges are damaged and cannot be played.

I believe this is the first "Soloist" player. It has six preset
combinations of stops that come on when directed by the roll.

I have been searching the Internet for quite a while and have
come up with nothing. I hope someone on the MM Digest can help me!
I am interested in two things:

1. Is anyone able to take the damaged rolls (or all two dozen rolls)
and reproduce/recut them onto new paper so they can all be usable
once again?

2. Does anyone have any Kimball Soloist rolls they would like to sell,
or any way I can get additional rolls made that would work for my
Soloist player?

This is a historic instrument, and I would like to keep everything
as original as possible, so adding MIDI control or changing the roll
player is unfortunately not an option. I do understand Kimball didn't
manufacture too many of these players or rolls so I know they are quite
scarce. Pictures and additional info available at request. My email
is iamskee@gmail.com.geentroep [delete ".geentroep" to reply. Thank
you in advance for any help anyone is able to provide.

 [ The music roll is 11.25" wide, 98 channels at 9 holes-per-inch,
[ so it should be playable using a tracker bar for Welte Licensee
[ rolls. MMDigest articles about the Kimball Soloist are indexed at
