Seek Barrel for Mazzoletti Barrel Piano
By Lelland Fletcher

I have a barrel piano, bought 14 years ago, with a barrel that plays
1920s songs but now the pins are loose. The maker of the barrel was
Pierre Van Roy of Belgium and he may have been the maker of the piano
itself, but there is a chance that it was made by E. Mazzoletti.

Bjorn Isebaert of Belgium says, "Those who know the history of the
Museum Speelklok in Utrecht will certainly know his name, for it was
Van Roy who sold the magnificent 'Aalster Gavioli' and the Philipps
Paganini to the Museum."

The barrel is 14 inches in diameter and 39 inches long; with added
gearing it is 40-3/4 inches long. It plays 10 tunes, each tune is
60 seconds (one revolution of the barrel). The keyframe plays 44
piano notes plus 7 percussion instruments, total 51 keys.

I never tried to find another barrel in Europe because of the shipping
charges and I still resist that, but I would appreciate a quote to
restore the existing barrel or to make a new one. The piano has been
tuned to A=435 Hz and is holding the tuning okay.

The instrument case is built to hold an extra barrel in the bottom,
and maybe there is an extra one out there somebody might be able to
sell to me. Contact me at 1-619-275-0161 in San Diego if you can
help me with a sale or advice.

Cordially,
Lelland Fletcher
