"Italian Music Rolls" Roll Label
By Marshall Jose

While making my way through an eBay seller's offering of random rolls,
I came across "Parto Pe' Napule", sold under the "Italian Music Rolls"
label, one which doesn't seem to turn up on any Google search.
See attached image of the label. I've a hunch the title draws more
on Sicilian patois than formal Italian.

One Raffaele M. Grimaldi appears to be the driving force behind the
label. The roll seems fairly well-made, if repetitious, although the
indicated tempo of 90 makes the piece sound a bit frantic. Perhaps
that was the preference among the Italian-American community in the
1920s.
