Lochmann Original 450 Disc Reiterating Piano
By Hans-W. Schmitz

In autumn 1906 the 'Zeitschrift für Instrumentenbau' reports on
a new Lochmann instrument which is not yet completed but is shown
at the Leipzig Fair. It has fast reiterating hammers, striking the
strings near the bridge.

The report says Lochmann obviously intended to produce a mandoline
sound, but the result is more or less the nice sound of a bowed
instrument. No. 450 is without, No. 475 is with percussion instruments.
