Old and New QRS "Darktown Strutters' Ball"
By Ken Vinen

It is indeed very sad that such a great many of the original masters
for paper roll music have been destroyed for what was thought to be
a good reason at the time. Storage space is expensive to maintain.
There really was no other choice before computer or electronic data
storage.

The item by Mike Walter was interesting and informative for the novice
roll collector. I did find one clue missing. QRS did advertise a
system to help customers who wished to enjoy the old style "player
piano sound" and arrangements. In their printed lists, they offered
the "Q" series. It was claimed that any roll number prefixed with the
letter "Q" was made from the original master and not a new version of
an old favorite.
