Preventing Moth Damage
By Paul Brennan

Regarding prevention of moth damage in newly restored pianos [150805

I have always included two holders of moth balls within the base and at
the top of the stack, after restoration. This has prevented re-infestation.

Although there are claims that felts and materials are 'moth proof',
I'm not so sure that they are, other than for a certain period of time.
Moth balls should be replaced yearly for continued effectiveness.
I have had no adverse effect on any piano treated in this way.

Moths are a major problem in the Sydney area.
