Tunesheet Titles Are Difficult to Read
By Paul Tuck

This is a difficult one to decipher, but I had a go anyway and this is
my 'interpretation' of the spidery writing :-

1. Catherine Polka Mazurka - Ja..d. Loupe? - Donizetti

2. La Juive Rachelle (The Jewess Rachel) - Quand du Seigneur - Halevy

3. Songe d'une nuit d'ete (Midsummer nights dream) - Choeur des
Gardes Chasses (a long S here) - Thomas

4. Le Prophete - Pastorale - Pour Berthe moi je soupire - Meyerbeer

One would expect the first to be a number from one of Donizetti's
numerous operas, but I think this an arrangement of one of his minor
piano works. These have completely disappeared from the repertoire,
but I found on YouTube a similarly titled 'Giuseppina Polka Mazurka'
so I would guess it's the same kind of thing. Needless to say, it's
a really unusual programme, but how obscure can you get!

Hope this helps,
Paul Tuck, London
